National Cybersecurity Strategies: What are Developing Nations to do?

Developing nations with limited human and technical resources are faced with populations that demand access to new technology and a global economic space that allows access to economic development through technology. But the technology also brings significant risk.

What can these countries do at a policy level to better position themselves for success?

This webinar will assess the current developments at an international level and highlight emerging best practices in cybersecurity policy development.

Presenter: Dr. Kevin Newmeyer

Currently the Senior Operations Director for the CREATEtm project of the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program, Dr. Newmeyer has successfully held a variety of positions in the military, academia, international civil service, and the private sector. His research focuses on international policy issues in cybersecurity. Along with his Ph.D. in Public Policy from Walden University, Dr. Newmeyer’s educational career is highlighted by his selection as an Olmsted Scholar which enabled him to earn his MA in International Relations from the Instituto Universitario Ortega y Gasset in Madrid, Spain.  He holds additional degrees from Escuela Diplomática of Spain (Diplomado de Estudios Internacionales), George Mason University (MBA), and the US Naval Academy (BS). Dr. Newmeyer is also a fellow at the National Cybersecurity Institute.

This webinar qualifies for 1 CPE credit from IAPP.

Excelsior College Veterans Day Reception

This year’s Veteran Day reception, hosted by the Center for Military Education at Excelsior College, will recognize the sacrifices of our service members, veterans, and their families, and provide support to our nation’s disabled veterans and the organizations dedicated to their success.

This year’s speaker is Dr. Susan Vitti, a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Psychologist with the St. Albans Primary Care Team at the VA New York Harbor Health Care System. Dr. Vitti will discuss the challenges veterans face post-deployment, with particular attention on PTSD and other mental health issues, suicide, and substance abuse, and our nation’s social responsibility to take care of them. 

Dr. Vitti is a license clinical psychologist who has worked for the Veterans Administration for the past decade.

The Center for Military Education will also collect handwritten veteran thank you cards to deliver to the Wounded Warrior Project.
